La presencia de los Hermanos de las Escuelas Cristianas en el Ecuador tiene una trayectoria de más de un siglo y medio al servicio de la educación. Su llegada al país fue posible gracias al impulso del Presidente Gabriel García Moreno y del futuro Arzobispo de Quito, Monseñor José Ignacio Ordóñez, quienes promovieron la consolidación del sistema educativo ecuatoriano y confiaron en la obra pedagógica de los Hermanos de La Salle para fortalecer la formación de la juventud.

Desde entonces, la misión lasallista ha contribuido de manera significativa al desarrollo educativo del Ecuador. En sus inicios, más de 200 niños participaron en la primera escuela lasallista e hispanoamericana, marcando el inicio de una tradición educativa basada en la formación integral de los estudiantes.

Entre aquellos primeros estudiantes se encontraba Francisco Febres Cordero Muñoz, quien posteriormente sería conocido como el Santo Hermano Miguel, figura ejemplar de la educación cristiana y orgullo del Ecuador y de la comunidad lasallista.

Dentro de este legado educativo se destaca la historia de la Unidad Educativa Hermano Miguel De La Salle de Atuntaqui, institución que forma parte de esta tradición de servicio y formación.

La Unidad Educativa Hermano Miguel De La Salle fue fundada el 11 de septiembre de 1942, marcando el inicio de una importante labor educativa en la ciudad de Atuntaqui. Desde entonces, la institución ha sido un espacio de formación integral donde generaciones de estudiantes han desarrollado sus talentos, capacidades y valores.

A lo largo de los años, en sus aulas se han formado hombres y mujeres de gran valía, comprometidos con la sociedad y con el desarrollo del país, inspirados por el ejemplo de nuestro Santo Patrono, el Hermano Miguel.

The presence of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in Ecuador has a history of more than a century and a half dedicated to education. Their arrival in the country was made possible thanks to the support of President Gabriel García Moreno and the future Archbishop of Quito, Monsignor José Ignacio Ordóñez, who promoted the consolidation of the Ecuadorian educational system and trusted the pedagogical work of the De La Salle Brothers to strengthen the education of young people.

Since then, the Lasallian mission has made a significant contribution to the educational development of Ecuador. In its early years, more than 200 children attended the first Lasallian and Hispanic-American school, marking the beginning of an educational tradition based on the integral formation of students.

Among those first students was Francisco Febres Cordero Muñoz, who later became known as Saint Brother Miguel, an exemplary figure of Christian education and a source of pride for Ecuador and the Lasallian community.

The Hermano Miguel De La Salle Educational Unit was founded on September 11, 1942, marking the beginning of an important educational mission in the city of Atuntaqui.
